mokona: (ride my wind)
I finally finished watching Night Head Genesis.

After nearly one and a half year years since I've last watched episode 23 I finally decided to take on episode 24. I don't remember many of the details because it has been a while ... but that was fine since there were a couple of years that were skipped between episode 22 and 23. I seemed to remember the important things:
1. there was some 5 year-old kid in Russia with some power
2. no one listens to the crazy man with scientific proof that some huge catostrophe is going to strike
3. ZOMG TEH WURLD HAETS EVRY1
4. trippy psychic powers
Important thing 1 was basically just for the last two episode, while 3 and 4 appear throughout the entire show. Important thing 2 basically happens in A LOT of shit. I believe there are quite a number of movies that are based entirely off of number 2.

That was an interesting series but also very very very boring at that same time. I think Akira Ishida's voice is what helped me to get through it. This was an anime that I had expected to never ever in a million years to get licensed. I had mentioned this to friend while I was in the middle of watching the final episode.  Since I was talking to my friend and I had the episode I decided to just look at the page on ANN. To my surprise I find this http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-02-14/media-blasters-indicates-license-of-night-head-genesis (Yeah, long link is loooong. Although, I have seen much looooooooooonger links). Apparently I've been MIA or something because this shit happened back in February.

There were really only three titles that I had never expected to get licensed; those three titles were: Jyu Oh Sei, Glass Fleet, and Night Head Genesis. I really shouldn't have doubted Night Head Genesis as much as I did. After all, Jyu Oh Sei and Glass Fleet were licensed by FUNimation! Glass Fleet already has a complete release for about six months, give or take. I'm still waiting on Jyu Oh Sei. I know everyone is excited about Ouran High School Host Club, but not me! I'm still waiting for any little bit of news on Jyu Oh Sei.

I know Tokyopop has the license to the Jyu Oh Sei manga and there was some crying from Tokyopop about how they have to get Jyu Oh Sei released quicker because the anime was licensed. So far, I haven't heard any news about release dates on both fronts. Jyu Oh Sei's license was announced a year ago by FUNimation and it should be released already. The show is only 11 episodes, less than half of Ouran's, and 13 episodes of Ouran will be released October 28, WTF! I guess I'm done crying about Jyu Oh Sei, for now.

I would talk about Glass Fleet buuuuut I'd rather not. Okay, fine, I will talk about Glass Fleet because it seems that I have nothing better to do. The animation isn't the best -- actually, I almost stopped watching it because of the animation but then there was this CG scene with explosions and that's why I kept watching. Then I started to think the animation was shit, again, and that the space setting was wtf, but then I heard Akira Ishida's voice -- and that is why I kept watching. Akira Ishida's voice seems to get me through a handful of things. I know I might just watch Naruto just because he does Gaara's voice but I'd like to think I'm not that obsessed. Anyway, back to Glass Fleet ... Episodes 1 - 12 are really interesting, especially the parts where Vetti's past is revealed, but then it starts to go downhill with episode 14 (not episode 13 because that's only a recap).

If anything, Glass Fleet is good too watch for some lulz. It gets way too over dramatic and that's saying something because I flock to drama like flies on shit. Glass Fleet makes a great tutorial on how to fuck up a potentialy good storyline (you may want to check it Kyoko). Besides the storyline being lulzy and wtf, the character designs are lulzy and wtf. Rachel and BB would make for some EPIC cosplay. I even wonder if it is humanly possible to create Rachel's or BB's clothes ... I like to think of BB's dress as being the fucked up love-child of a scorpion and a quilt. Rachel's dress is ... well fuck, I don't know what the hell it is and I'm not even sure I want to know what it is. When I look at it I have a feeling that once I found out what the hell it is and discover its seekrit that it will eat me. I'm sure her damn dress is alive and it feeds off her brain, which is probably why she is so batshit. Although, her dress really looks like evil spawn of a flower and an alien and I'm sure it's out to get us.

Last bit of crap about Glass Fleet, I promise. Another funny thing in the show was that Creo's tag-line was, "Come ... ride my wind." TRUFAX, I SWEARZ IT -- NO LIE! That could be taken a number of different ways. Since Shorty and I seem to lack the possession of a single ounce of decorum, we believed it to be his pick-up line. Oh hey, maybe I do have some decorum since I put it in a very non-crass way! Then Creo also had talk about putting things he takes a liking to in his pocket. He totally came onto Michel because he said that to Michel; that he had put Michel into his pocket. =D

Back to the original reason why I posted, Night Head Genesis. The original name of this post was, "KOALA EVENTUALLY FINISHES WHAT IS STARTED." Then Jyu Oh Sei worked it's way into my thoughts, as it likes to do, and because I mentioned Jyu Oh Sei I felt that I should mention Glass Fleet. I'm still shocked that Night Head Genesis was licensed.

You know with an opening like that it will be boring AND interesting. When it's boring, it's fucking boring and when it's interesting, it's pretty interesting. Sometimes it drags on and it takes a while for much of anything to happen, but I think that's what I like about it. Yeah, I may diss it but I like to make fun of things I like.

There was a part in the last episode that had me laughing. The girl was saying that it was really nice being able to meet Naoya. Then Naoya walks a few steps closer to her and they both stand there. They're really close too and I start thinking that he's going to kiss her. In my mind I'm thinking, "NO YOU CAN'T KISS HER! YOU JUST MET HER!" (There's also the fact that I believe at least half of the characters Akira Ishida has voiced are gay.) Then the girl, I already forgot her name, places her hand on his chest and she's looking up at him. She's expecting him to kiss her and he's just standing there. After a few moments he tells her good-bye and that he'll see her again. He doesn't say anymore and she removes her hand from his chest and she looks DEVASTATED for about 2.4 seconds. She gets over it over very quickly and just smiles and nods and he walks away from her. I feel sad for that girl now ... I think deep down inside I really did wish for them to kiss and be happy together. Hell, I just want Naoya and Naoto to be happy ;o; They need themselves some fucking happy! They end up being happy because little girl drew a picture of them and they were all smiling. =D Yay for a happy ending!
